Even though Vegtech have always had and sold an 8m and 9.6m greenhouse structure the design was from the early 70's and it was in serious need of an upgrade. Why so long to release a new model? Releasing a new greenhouse design to the market is a lengthy process. Engineers have to work on the design, build scale models, test them in wind tunnels then gradually progress to commercially sized structures that have to stand for at least two seasons before the model can be launched commercially. Technical Specifications This model comes in an 8m or 9.6m gable span. It has arches every 4m and has a gothic style roof with a steep pitch to improve light penetration and enhance the anti-drip additive in the plastic. It has a number of ventilation options. A rack and pinion window at the apex on one or two sides, a rack and pinion window next to the gutter, roll up side curtains on each of the four sides, a closed roof version with pad and fan or fans alone. All R&P windows operated by Ridder systems.Standard gutter height is 4.5m although 4m and 5m gutter height is available on request. As with all our greenhouses the gutter length is a multiple of 4m. It can be supplied with vegetable support, screens, heating, cooling. All components are made from rectangular tubing, except for brackets and some pipe stays.  Market Response The response from the market has been amazing, 15 hectares built in South Africa so far plus 10 hectares exported and a full order book going forward.
